Near to these jungles at the bank of river Sona lies the erstwhile royal state of Kharsawan. Kharsawan Chhau dance —an extinct form of traditional dance has survived in a village called Deuridih near the Block office on the Kuchai Kharsawan Road.
Kharsawan ChhauKharsawan vibrates with the most popular dance form - Chhau. Traditional Annual Chaitraparva, the Spring Festival of Shiva-Sakti, the deity of resurgent spring symbolizing creation and fertility is celebrated for generations. This dance forms an essential part of rejoicing. The whole community joins in to celebrate the arrival of spring, filling the air with a mood of festivity. For a tourist nothing would be more fascinating than a feast to a stage show of Chhau in its most traditional form.
Different steps of ChhauMAGHEMaghe is a dance form that is performed in the month of January-February, during the full moon period to celebrate the harvest of the season. The whole village partakes in this festival Such rituals and ceremonies would make an exclusive sight for a visitor.
KARMAPerformed primarily on the occasion of the Karma Festival, Karma or Karma Dance is a community-based dance and festival that is celebrated by all tribal and non-tribals. NACHNINachni is a tradition of court music and dance, performed mainly on the occasion of Kartik Purnima (full moon), by Kurmi Community (Mahato). Nachni is performed to enthrall and entertain the prosperous zamindars in the villages.
